New features added to JSTOR

MyJSTOR has a few new features.

• eTOC Alerts can tell you when content new to JSTOR is added for a journal, either via email or RSS feed
• Citation Tracking will alert you when articles new to JSTOR cite an article you are tracking
• Saved Search Alerts will let you know when a saved search finds content new to JSTOR

You can set the frequency of the alerts for monthly, weekly, or daily. Sign in to your free MyJSTOR account at JSTOR today.  

Library acquires JSTOR Arts & Sciences VIII collection

The library has expanded the JSTOR collection to include Arts & Sciences VIII which features periodicals in history, language & literature, art & art history, and education. Included in this set will be a group of rare 19th and early 20th century American Art periodicals digitized as part of a special project undertaken with the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Frick Collection, and the Brooklyn Museum of Art. With a minimum of 140 titles by its completion in 2011, this collection will also include journals in philosophy, classical studies, and music.  Click here for a complete title list and description.

JSTOR provides access to archived issues of leading academic journals in the humanities, social sciences, and sciences.  Access always includes volume 1, issue 1 when available as well as all previous and related titles.  The most recently published issues (past 3-5 years) are not available from JSTOR.

Pamphlet Collections from Leading UK Libraries Available in JSTOR

JSTOR recently announced the release of more than 20,000 19th Century British pamphlets into the JSTOR archive. This collection of materials was created by RLUK (Research Libraries UK) with funding from the JISC Digitisation Programme to provide researchers with online access to some of the most significant collections of pamphlets held in UK institutions. The pamphlets are from collections held by: University of Newcastle, Durham University, University of Manchester, University College London, University of Liverpool, London School of Economics and Political Science, and University of Bristol.

Free Access at Texas State until June 30, 2009

The first set of approximately 8,000 pamphlets was made available at the end of January 2009, and will be followed by regular releases of additional material. They will be freely accessible to all JSTOR participating institutions through June 30, 2009. JSTOR will evaluate delivery, presentation, and use of the content, and develop an understanding of how best to address the needs of researchers and students working with it.

Library Acquires Two New JSTOR Collections, Arts & Sciences V and Business II

JSTOR has been Alkek Library's most used database for several years in a row, and we are happy to announce that the Library has acquired two new collections, Arts & Sciences V and Business II.  JSTOR is not a current issue database but instead provides access to complete runs of back issues, frequently to volume 1 of the journal. Arts & Sciences V will provide access to older issues of core scholarly titles in philosophy, history, classics, religion, art, and language and literature. Journals include The Bulletin of the Museum of Modern Art, Design Quarterly, Environmental History, Film History, The Hudson Review, Hypatia, Journal of Folklore Research, Journal of Modern Literature,  Research in African Literatures, and Victorian Studies. When complete in 2009, the collection will include 120 journals. The Business II Collection expands JSTOR's coverage of economics and finance, and introduces journals focused on administration and marketing, including the flagship journals of the American Marketing Association. Business II also includes a number of journals that explore the intersections between economics and law, policy, and psychology. Several core international business titles are also included:
